Easy Jack-O-Lantern

© by Noreen Doll; all rights reserved

Here is a quick and easy craft that even a preschooler can make.

To make a Jack-O-Lantern, you will need:

Paper Bag - Use a brown paper grocery bag if you want a large jack-o-lantern

Newspaper

Orange Paint or Marker

Black Marker

Green construction paper, about 3 inches by 5 inches for a small bag and about 5 inches by 8 inches for a large bag

Instructions:

To make your jack-o-lantern, paint the paper bag orange. Let dry.

Make a face on one side of the bag with the black marker. Let dry.

Crumple the sheets of newspaper and use them to stuff the paper bag until it is nice and round.

With a piece of string or a rubber band, tightly tie off the top of the bag.

Roll the piece of green construction paper loosely to make a tube about 5 inches high. Gently twist it to look like a stem.

Generously glue the bottom part of the stem and insert into top of bag. Clamp with clothespins while glue dries.

Set him where everyone can see him.

Note:

For a lunch bag sized pumpkin, instead of the green construction paper you could fold a pipe cleaner in half and twist it together.

If you are making this craft with a group of preschoolers, you could leave the lunch bag natural instead of painting it orange.
